Master's Programs in Engineering

Twenty-one, across its eight academic departments plus several interdisciplinary and cross-college programs, and graduate certificate options for students not ready to commit to a full degree. They are: Aerospace and Space Systems Engineering; Bioengineering; Biological Chemical Engineering; Catastrophe Modeling and Resilience; Chemical Engineering; Civil Engineering; Computer Engineering; Computer Science; Data Science; Electrical Engineering; Energy Systems Engineering; Environmental Engineering; Health Systems Engineering; Industrial Engineering and Operations Research; Materials Science and Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Optimization; Photonics; Polymer Science and Engineering; Structural Engineering; Technical Entrepreneurship.

Master’s admission is rolling: up to December 15 for a spring start, May 15 for a summer start, and July 15 for a fall start. Applicants located outside the U.S. are recommended to apply earlier, given visa processing time: June 1 for fall, November 1 for spring, and April 1 for summer.

The GRE is not required or considered for any Rossin College graduate program.

Yes. Delivery varies by program: Polymer Science and Engineering is fully online; a further 13 programs are available online or blended alongside an on-campus option; and the remainder are on campus. Each program page states its own delivery mode.

Every Rossin College master’s program is 30 credits.

Interdisciplinary programs take 18 months and all other programs take two years, with four exceptions that run shorter: Data Science (10 months), Energy Systems Engineering (10 months), Technical Entrepreneurship (11 months) and Optimization (1 year). The interdisciplinary degrees are Aerospace and Space Systems Engineering, Catastrophe Modeling and Resilience, Data Science, Energy Systems Engineering, Polymer Science and Engineering and Technical Entrepreneurship.

The Rossin College offers a limited number of Master’s Program Committee Scholarships, merit-based awards selected by each program’s own graduate admissions committee; the amount varies by program. Priority is given to applicants who apply before December 15.

Yes. The Lehigh Alumni Master’s Scholarship is available to all Lehigh University alumni pursuing a master’s degree in the Rossin College, offsetting up to 12 credits of required coursework, applied each semester the student is enrolled.

The Rossin College provides a limited amount of stipend support to students pursuing a Master of Engineering or Master of Science who are selected to support teaching or research efforts within their program; amounts vary by award type, student merit, and fund availability.

Yes, three kinds. EdAssist-affiliated employees receive a 20% tuition discount on select programs: Biological Chemical Engineering (Master’s), Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering (Certificate), Chemical Engineering (Master’s), Mechanical Engineering (Master’s), MBA & Engineering, and Polymer Science & Engineering (Master’s/Certificate). Edcor-affiliated employees and employees of a Lehigh direct corporate partner each receive a 20% tuition discount on all Rossin College master’s and graduate certificate programs. Applicants through any of the three can also request a free application-fee waiver.

Lehigh’s Office of Graduate Education and Life, the Graduate Writers Studio (writing and academic support), the Center for Career and Professional Development, health/wellness/counseling services, and emergency loans through the Graduate Life Office are all available to Rossin College graduate students.
